DS Core and Pearl: why platform integrations deserve scrutiny
A September 2025 announcement illustrates how imaging AI is moving into broader dental platforms.
The announcement
On 23 September 2025, Dentsply Sirona announced a partnership with Pearl to bring AI-assisted radiologic support into DS Core. The announcement is useful industry context. Availability, supported uses and authorization must be checked for the purchaser’s country and configuration.
Why integration matters
A platform connection can change where a clinician encounters an analysis and how the result is stored. The purchasing question therefore extends beyond whether the algorithm can produce an overlay. Teams need to understand who sees the result, how the source image is identified and what happens when a case moves between systems.
Our interpretation
During a demonstration, follow one image through upload, analysis, professional review and export. Ask what data reaches each organization and whether a result remains linked to the correct image version. Evaluate the clinical product on its own evidence and the integration on its observed workflow. Neither a partnership announcement nor a familiar platform name answers both questions.
A closer look
| Focus | What to look at | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Clinical output | What finding is presented? | Review the product evidence and intended use. |
| Platform connection | Where is the result displayed and retained? | Follow the same image through the integrated process. |
| Local availability | Which functions are offered in this market? | Obtain configuration-specific confirmation. |
Frequently asked questions

Is an integrated result a clinical decision?
A generated output and the responsible professional’s decision are separate parts of the workflow.
