Canadian oral health data: read the population before the market

Health Infobase provides a useful starting point for research into oral health needs and access.

The data source

Health Infobase’s self-reported oral health page was updated on 31 August 2026. It describes the Canadian Oral Health Survey conducted in the provinces between November 2023 and March 2024. The collection period matters when interpreting the results.

Questions the data can inform

Population research can help frame questions about reported oral health and access. It cannot substitute for an interview with the person deciding whether a clinic will purchase a service. A founder should identify the population, question wording and time period before carrying a statistic into a business case.

Our interpretation

Use the official data to describe context, then design narrower research around the intended customer. For an implant coordination platform, that means understanding how cases are organized, which professionals participate and what prompts a clinic to change its process. Keep survey findings separate from product evaluation results. Both are useful, but they answer different questions.
